Company History, Global Vision
The tradition of family vacation portraits dates back to the mid-1700s, when British aristocrats and their families traveling through Europe would hire local artists for standing portraits set against a backdrop of antiques, monuments, ruins, works of art – items endemic to the region they were passing through. This so-called “Grand Tour” of Europe was seen as a rite of passage for young nobles as they traveled from city to city taking in regional art, music, and fashion that wasn’t available to them back home.
Among the most famous of these Grand Tour portraitists was Italian painter Pompeo Batoni whose signature style created masterpiece works of these travelers and their families. The "vacation portrait" was a special souvenir that they brought home – lasting artwork that, to this day, still hangs in many of the mansions in England. Talk about heirloom quality! And now, as an artistic legacy passed down through the ages, Tricia & Co. wants to create the same portrait masterpieces for you and your family through the art form of photography.
Our history began in 1997 with our first studio, Summertime Beach Portraits, in Destin, FL where we offered beach and wedding portraits, and upscale vacation photography to Northwest Florida visitors. This became such a popular vacation activity and family tradition in the southeast U.S. that we expanded to other parts of the nation and Europe. In 2011, we changed our company name to Tricia & Co. Family Vacation Photographers to become a premier vacation portrait company and to encompass our global franchisee business expansion for vacation destination portrait services. Media Kit
Born in Hawaii and a kama'aina, Tricia’s love for photography began as a child. She started with a 110 film camera and quickly mastered the art of 35mm in her early years. She shot photos for her college newspaper and college senior year capstone project. After graduation, she kept her craft alive assisting and studying under multiple professional photographers. During this time she extensively learned medium format portraiture (a niche used by many professionals) and naturally developed an innovative eye for new photo design products for home and office.
In 1997, after an exciting six month travel tour abroad in India, Tricia formed the company now known as Tricia & Co. with a camera and a dream. Her first studio, Summertime Beach Portraits was an immediate success. It provided Northwest Florida visitors with upscale vacation photography.
After photographing hundreds of families and watching them grow up, Tricia traveled to Europe and was inspired to broaden her vacation portrait business to an international scale. In 2009, Tricia later added Hawaii and Paris to her roster of locations and has now expanded her international presence through the Tricia & Co. global franchisee network. Now based in Las Vegas Tricia & Co. teaches photographers how to grow their craft and succeed as entrepreneurs in photography. She offers her services at her TBA studio and works out of her Paris studio during the summer months.
Tricia's artistic photographs have been published in FLAUSA, the BAE calendar, and Homes & Land of the Emerald Coast. Her work was featured on the cover of the award-winning Dale E. Peterson rack cards and vacation guide. In 2008, Tricia was honored to have her Destin stock images published in the City Section of Delta’s SKY Magazine for Destin, FL.
Tricia is a graduate of the University of West Florida with degrees in Psychology and Business. She is an accredited photographer (CPP Certified Professional Photographer) through the Professional Photographer’s of America Association and also has undergone specialized and intensive training in Rembrandt lighting.
Fun fact about Tricia that most people don’t know. She was a dolphin trainer at the Gulfarium in Fort Walton Beach, FL. Ask her about it if you have the chance. She has lots of interesting stories about her dolphin training days.
